"I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers" - l.m. montgomery
This post is all about Halloween décor ideas that are budget friendly and easy to store year round.
Another Halloween is right around the corner! Decorating for Halloween is one of my favorite things to do, but I am often wanting décor that is big and effective and doesn't break the bank.
This year I made it my mission to find ideas that are budget friendly and can easily be stored for the next year. Whatever your design aesthetic is, there is something for everyone on this list! From gothic to modern to kid-friendly, I have you covered.
This post is all about Halloween décor ideas.
Halloween Décor Ideas:
1
Add Bats to Cloches
Cloches are a great way to transform a space for any holiday. Add these paper bats for a spooky upgrade. All you need is black construction paper, scissors, and some clear string.
Download the bat printables from So Much Better With Age.
2
Swap Framed Décor
These themed printables are great for changing a space without having to store tons of decorations. Use existing frames you have or pick up some new ones. Buy now from 88Prints on Etsy.
3
Hang Floating Candles
Turn any part of your home into Hogwarts Great Hall with flickering battery operated tapered candles. With a little fishing wire and tape these candles can easily be hung from the ceiling. Try these candles from At Home.
4
Hanging Witch Hats
Channel the Sanderson Sisters with witch hats. These hats are so versatile and a great way to fill up a space. They can be hung indoors or outdoors. Use just a few or a lot! The options are endless.
Buy these Witch Hats that come with the clear hanging string on Amazon.
5
Make Styrofoam Spiders
Line the steps of your front porch with creepy crawly spiders. Try adding smaller pumpkins to make the spiders look larger. You can also customize the size of these to different spaces in your home. Get the tutorial from One Good Thing by Jillee.

Decorate with Tree Branches
For an eerie entry gather up a couple of dead tree branches and add some Crows. You can also use this idea on a smaller scale indoors. Try adding smaller branches to a vase, or using them as a centerpiece.
Keep with the dark theme by adding monochromatic pumpkins to the mix.
7
Add Decorative Pillows
Decorate your couch or bed with throw pillows that match your mood. If you already have pillows you can easily dress them up with themed pillow covers.
8
Create a Gothic Table Setting
Make a table setting like Sivan Ayla's by layering black cheese cloth and covering it with wax-drip bottles and skeleton heads. Then add some extras like skeleton hands and candles and call it a day!
9
Decorate with Cheese Cloth
While on the topic of cheese cloth, there are SO many options when it comes to Halloween decorating. Try layered draping on your mantel like this one from Apartment Therapy.
You can also use cheese cloth on lamp shades, chandeliers, railings, over curtains, on tables, or to make ghosts.
10
Repurpose Your Books
Channel your inner witch with these printable book covers. All you need is some paper and a printer and you'll be on your way to casting spells.
Get the tutorial from Sunshine Parties.
11
Cover Furniture in Bed Sheets
Use white bed sheets for an effortlessly eerie living room. If you're feeling extra creepy you can try draping sheets over a standing or seated skeleton.
12
Make Apothecary Bottles
Gather your empty bottles to make a witchy apothecary setup. Simply clean the bottles and add the labels. If you don't want to find things to fill the bottles, try spray painting them all black before adding the labels.
Get these printable labels from Lia Griffith.
13
Add Decals to Your Windows
Give neighbors and trick or treaters a scare with window decals. There are tons of options out there and most are reusable year to year.
Get this decal from Harbor Design Co.
