A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is a young adult mystery debut novel by Holly Jackson. In this novel, the pretty, popular, high-school senior Andie Bell goes missing. A few days later her boyfriend Sal Singh sends a confession text to his dad and commits suicide. Case closed.
Until 5 years later, Pippa Fitz-Amobi decides to investigate the case for her senior capstone project. She is a witty and strong protagonist that will stop at nothing for the truth.

1) What are your thoughts on Pip as the protagonist? How would the story have been different if we followed Ravi instead?
2) As Pip learns more about Andie, she uncovers multiple suspects with strong motives. As you read, what theories did you have on who murdered Andie and their motive?
3) Pip updates her persons of interest list after she discovers new info or confronts a potential suspect. Was there anyone on the persons of interest list that you thought was innocent? Or anyone that you would have added?
4) At any point did you suspect that there were two different killers?
5) Is there anything that you would have done differently during the investigation? Any leads you would have pursued further?
6) Reputations and personal biases play a huge role in this book. How do you think the story would be different if Andie and Sal had different reputations?
7) Both the Bell’s and the Singh’s reputations inevitably changed within the town as a result of the investigation. How do you think things will be different for them both now?
8) How would you have reacted to some of the situations in the book? Would you have acted similarly or differently? Why? Why do you think the character acted the way he or she did?
a) The first threat was delivered to Pip on the night they went camping. Would you have wrote this off as a prank? Or would it have been enough to get you to stop digging?
b) Pip discovered that Max was an avid buyer of rohypnol early on in her investigation. Though we learn that he did eventually face charges, would you have involved the police in that matter earlier? Or do you think it was crucial to the investigation that Max remain available?

11) Mystery crime books often have hidden clues in plain sight, slipping them casually into the story. Did you pick up on any of them?
12) Additionally, crime writers will try and trick us with false clues to lead us astray. What did the author do to try and throw us off track? Was she successful in doing so?
13) Are there any unnecessary parts or underdeveloped characters in the book? What scenes would you add to or remove from the story?
